GAWAI DAYAK or GAWAI
Should we just said Selamat Gawai or Selamat Gawai Dayak? In facebook there lots of comments about this issue. When this celebration submitted and approved by the government as public holiday in the State, its was clearly stated as GAWAI DAYAK not Gawai only. As such, as one of the Dayak native i strongly beleived that in any function or occasion, the name of this festival should not change as Selamat Gawai. It should be written in full as Selamat Gawai Dayak.
If we look at the real meaning of the words Gawai mean celebration and Dayak mean the native who celebrate the festival. As such if we just put it as Selamat Gawai meaning that Happy Celebration which mean it does not carry any weight the the festival to the Dayak community.
Its similar to Tadau Ke'amatan in Sabah. I am sure they still keep the whole words when used it in any occasion. Hope we as Sarawakian in particular and as Malaysian in general should be more sensitive about this issue. This is one way where we still can keep the uniqueness of our culture and share the originality with the future generation.

Tourist?
I dont see tourist in Sibu town? This words is a common in Sibu town. If they asking me, I will not answer them straight. I will asked them what do they understand about tourist term. After listening to their argument about tourist, I realise that they only consider "Orang Putih" as tourist. In my personal point of view they are wrong. I did explained to them but they seemed not interested in my explaination.
Generally Tourist is categorised as domestis tourist and international tourist. Domestis tourist just like you and me when we visit other place outside from our living area for more than 24 hours. Our relatives and friends from Kuching, also can be categorised as domestic tourist because they also spend like "Orang Putih" when they stay in Sibu. They spend for their hotels, food and drinks. They even do shopping in Sibu before they goind back to their place.
Domestis tourist spend more compare to international tourist? This is very subjective question because some of the international tourist also spend more in certain area. But we should not forget the domestic tourist travel more often to sibu compare to international tourist. This is obvious when there are events or celebrations in Sibu. We will complained about traffic jammed, not enough hotels rooms, coffee shop full (good complained), etc. We should be happy because they make economy in Sibu booming.

Whenever you visit new place you will looking for souvenir shop to get some souvenirs to buy. It will remind us when we going back to our home town. In my visit to Sarikei recently, I realise that there are new shop at Sarikei Waterfront selling souvenirs. To my surprise, the price is reasonable and there are variety of souvenirs available at the shop. It is easy to locate this shop because it is located at Sarikei Waterfront just next to wet market and Sarikei Bus station.

Life with full of fun
Life will be fun if we appreciate it but it will turn to the other way round if you push yourself over the limit. Whatever your dream is, you must know your strenght and ability to achieve it. Simple life doesn't mean you you are left behind compare to those who always laugh and happy. Quite doesn't mean you don't know what you suppose to do but you actually thinking the best way to do it.
Life just like a piece of white cloth, its up to you what colour you want it to be. If you paint the wrong colour on it, you can wash it but you cannot clean it. Maybe you can create more colors as what you are in our actual life now.......peace for all.
